Internews announces acceptance of applications for grants for the production of media content

Projects and grants

Project “Strengthening Resilience to Radicalization and Disinformation in Central Asia” announces acceptance of grant applications for content production. The grants are designed to support local independent media and media content producers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Applications are accepted from independent media organizations, journalists, civic activists and other content producers from Central Asian countries. Priority is given to applicants from the regions.

 

Grants are given to cover the following topics:

  • Promoting peace, stability and harmony through the prevention of radicalization and misinformation leading to violent extremism.
  • Religious freedom and the promotion of religious and social tolerance.
  • Promoting media literacy and the ability to critically evaluate information in order to prevent hate speech, xenophobia, aggression, hostility, separation and dissemination of disinformation, including related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Application Evaluation Criteria:

  • Accurate and detailed presentation of the project (ideas), a specific plan for the implementation of the project and the distribution of media content (wide audience coverage is welcome).
  • Creativity and variety of formats.
  • Involvement and collaboration with experts, civil society organizations and officials.
  • The duration of the project should not exceed six months.
  • The project budget should not exceed 5,000 euros for legal entities and 2,000 euros for individual applicants.

About the project

The regional project, Strengthening Resilience to Radicalization and Disinformation in Central Asia, is being implemented by Internews with financial support from the European Union.

The project activities are based on the lessons and experience of the previous project “Promoting Stability and Peace in Central Asia”.

The project aims to support national and regional initiatives that enhance the resilience of Central Asian citizens to radical narratives and disinformation leading to violent extremism. The target audience of the project is media, civil and state institutions, religious leaders and active citizens of Central Asia.
